4. Karl (Kappeschmitt) SCHMITT⁶ was born on 13 Feb 1882 in Braunfels an der Lahn, Germany. He was a "Sportlehrer" in Berlin, Germany between 1909 and 1918. He began teaching in Berlin sometime before 1909. The family lived on Baumschulenweg am Teltow Kanal. He was a hat shop owner (thus the nickname "Kappeschmitt") in Braunfels an der Lahn, Germany between 1918 and 1930.³ The shop went bankrupt as a result of Karl's mismanagement. He moved from Berlin to Braunfels with his family in 1918. He was an insurange agent in Braunfels an der Lahn, Germany between 1946 and 1980. For many years he had an office in Wetzlar. He died on 1 Feb 1952 in Braunfels an der Lahn, Germany. He died certainly as a result of a life of smoking, which caused him to have asthma.for several years before his death. He was also known as Carl Schmitt (the way he spelled it). "Von Beruf Sportslehrer in Berlin, zog nach 1918 mit Familie (Ehefrau Dora . . . Sohn Rolf . . . und Tochter Lotti) nach Braunfels und übernahm das Textilgeschäft der Eltern auf dem Marktplatz in Braunfels. Sohn Günter wurde hier geboren. Im Turnverein, er war sehr musikalisch, spielte sehr gut Klavier -- ein Geschäftsmann war er nicht!" Before World War II, he accompanied the silent movies on the piano. He was an excellent gymnast who participated in the "Feldbergfest", a significant athletic event, at age 50. Karl (Kappeschmitt) SCHMITT and Dora Bertha Margarete BAUKNECHT were married on 4 Oct 1909 in Berlin, Germany. They were divorced before 1945 in Braunfels an der Lahn, Germany.^3,4 Nevertheless, they lived in the same house until his death. (Even after their divorce, according to Heide Signes and Anneliese Schmitt, she was forever taking care of him.)

5. Dora Bertha Margarete BAUKNECHT was born on 7 Mar 1888 in Berlin, Germany. She was baptized on 10 Jun 1888 in Zion, Berlin, Germany.⁷ She was a "Sekretärin in der Reichsdrückerei" (Secretary of the Reich printery" in Berlin, Germany before 1914.³ She was a "Arztgehilfin" in Berlin, Germany before 1914. She was the first female accountant at Buderus between 1940 and 1945 in Wetzlar, Lahn, Germany. Dates unknown; during WW II. She died on 15 Jul 1967 in Braunfels an der Lahn, Germany. Children were:

	ii.	Lieselotte Dora Elisabeth (Lotti) SCHMITT8 was born on 17 Jun 1916 in Berlin-Treptow, Germany. She died on 6 Jan 1951 in Wetzlar, Lahn, Germany.3 Died of kidney failure following her sixth miscarriage. (She had kidney problems throughout her life, resulting in high blood pressure.)
	iii.	Günter Hans Kurt SCHMITT8 was born on 5 Oct 1920 in Braunfels an der Lahn, Germany. He died on 20 Feb 1982 in Torrance, CA, USA.9
