Graziano GRAZIANI230 was born on 13 Feb 1710 in Pescaglia, Lucca, Toscana, Italy.276 He died of "febbre maligna" on 29 Jun 1758 in Pescaglia, Lucca, Toscana, Italy.277 He was called Gratiano (no last name) on his 1710 baptismal certificate but Graziano Graziani on all subsequent documentation (on his 1731 marriage certificate the "z" is an "old-fashioned" one, but by his 1758 death certificate it is a "z" that would be recognized in the 21st century. I have listed him here as Graziano to distinguish him from his grandfather Gratiano. Graziano GRAZIANI and Camilla MAZZEI were married on 7 Jan 1731 in Pescaglia, Lucca, Toscana, Italy.278 481.
Camilla MAZZEI279,280 was born on 22 Dec 1705 in
Pescaglia, Lucca, Toscana, Italy.281

indicates this was birthdate. She died on 26 Jan 1779 in Pescaglia, Lucca, Toscana,
Italy.282 The spelling
of this family name changed in her lifetime. Clearly written Mazzei on her birth
certificate in 1705, it is written Massei (but with an older configuration -
Mafsei or Maßei - on her 1779 death certificate. It is not clear exactly
how it's written on her wedding certificate in 1731 (see photo), but it's clearly
written Maßei by the time of her son Amadeo's 1749 birth. The odd (to us)
double consonant of 1731 is duplicated in her first cousin Elisabetta's 1724
baptismal certificate where "batezzata" is written in the identical
script. On Elisabetta's brother Michele's 1712 baptismal certificate, however,
the surname is clearly written "Massei" (with the now standard ss;
baptized, meanwhile, is written "batteszata"), so the early 18th-century
orthography is difficult to fathom. It seems to be a function of the priest as
well as of the times. Children were:
