41. Leopoldo CASTEDO HERNÁNDEZ DE PADILLA³ was born on 27 February 1915 in Madrid, Spain.²⁸ Born at Carranzas 16. He was triple jump champion of Castille (campeón de Castilla de triple salto) in 1931 in Madrid, Spain.¹³⁸ He immigrated about 1939 to France.³⁰ Leopoldo immigrated after 1939 to Chile.³⁰ Salió joven de España, tras la guerra de 1936-39, al exilio en Chile. Allí se convirtió en un intelectual de gran importancia

After 1940 he was a professor in Chile. Vivió en Chile donde fue Cónsul honorario y profesor de la Universidad de Historia del Arte Iberoamericano y Decano del departamento de Arte de la Universidad de Nueva York en Stony Brook. He was naturalized in 1948 in Chile.¹³⁹ Leopoldo immigrated after 1950 to USA. After 1950 he was a professor in New York, NY, USA.^30,74 Concepción CASTEDO VALLS: " [fue] Decano del departamento de Arte de la Universidad de Nueva York en Stony Brook." Julián CASTEDO MOYA: "fue, durante años, profesor en la universidad de Columbia en Nueva York." In 1964/5 he was an Assistant Professor of Latin American Civilization at Catholic University in Washington, DC, USA.¹⁴⁰ In 1965 Leopoldo was a Professor at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, USA.¹⁴¹ From 1966 he was a Chairman of the Department of Art at SUNY-Stony Brook in Stony Brook, NY, USA.¹⁴² He died on 10 October 1999 at the age of 84 in Madrid, Spain.²⁸
