Land of the
Graziani: Maps
Emilito's September
2003 Trip
Before Italy's
unification in the 1860s, Lucca was it's own political entity.
Now, however, it is a part of Tuscany. Tuscany's geographical
position within Italy, and Lucca's position within Tuscany, are shown
on maps A and B. Maps C and D gradually show more detail within
Lucca, and finally, the fifth map, E, shows, in detail (1:50,000), the
land of Emilito's Italian ancestors.
A.. Map of Italy showing the region of
Tuscany (Toscana), where Lucca is located
B. Map of Tuscany showing its provinces
Most events on Emilito's 2003 trip took place in the province of Lucca
(see below)
Ripafratta is the first town in Pisa below the Lucca border
Marina di Vecchiano is also in Pisa just below the Lucca border
C. Map of the Province of Lucca

Cabo de la Nao (near "Signes-land") in Spain
The next two maps show
some of Emilito's travels and points of interest in his past.
D. Some of our travels in Lucca.
Our base in Ripafratta is at the very bottom, center
Both Pisa and the beach are just a few miles as shown.
Pescaglia and Villabuona are circled in the center of the picture.
Borgo a Mozzano is at the far right, center.
In the top right hand corner are Coreglia Antelminelli, far right, and
Barga.
The black lines represent some of Steve and Emilito's travels during
the trip

To give you an idea of the scale, the distance, as the crow flies, from
