Some childhood memories never fade far from the surface. For Emilito one of these is the stories his parents used to tell about their 1936 trip to Spain. Emilio SIGNES MONFORT, a native of Gata de Gorgos (Alicante), had not returned home since his 1920 immigration to the US. His wife Carmen LAGOS BESTEIRO, a native of Havana, Cuba, had never visited Spain, the home of all her relatives except her parents' family and that of two of her mother's siblings in Cuba.
