Arthur Dearwood (Red) DESCH Jr.1 was born on 8 Dec 1927 in Newark, Essex, NJ, USA.
He served in the military between 1946 and 1952.1 He quit high school, lied about his age and joined the
Navy at the age of 17. He was in the Navy for 6 years and to his dying day loved
nothing better than the Military and United States of America. He often stated
that the biggest mistake he made in his life was not making the Navy his profession.
He deeply regretted leaving after only 6 years. During his time in the Navy
he received his GED and took many technical courses. He died on 25 Jul 1994
in Mesa, AZ, USA.1 He died
of cancer which started in his lungs and moved to his bones, lymph nodes and
brain. Per his request his Hospice Chaplain officiated the service. He was
buried with military honors at the National Cemetery in North Phoenix, AZ. Art
was proud of the fact that during his teen years he helped with "black-outs"
during World War II. In April of 1980 he left his job with Chrysler Corporation
in the Detroit area and, along with his wife, Darlene, moved to Littleton CO
where he was employed with Martin Marietta (Lockheed Martin) as a Design Engineer.
In 1983 he joined TRW in Colorado Springs CO where he worked for 3 years. In
1986 he became self-employed and worked as a "Job Shopper" as a Design
Engineer with Magnavox, Boeing and several other major companies. He retired
in the fall of 1991 at the age of 62. He was very active in the Elks, working
through the "Chairs" at the Plymouth MI lodge and the Littleton CO
lodge. Art enjoyed fishing and was an avid reader. He also enjoyed the computer.
While retired and living in Mesa AZ he was very active in the Venture Out Computer
Club where he taught classes. Arthur Dearwood (Red) DESCH Jr. and Shirley Mae
HAY were married on 6 Aug 1948. They were divorced in 1978. 9. Shirley
