John / Jan GAZDECZKA³ was born in 1867/68 in Krakow, Poland.^3,121 About 1864 per Dianne GERAGHTY (Prinz) He immigrated in 1885 to the United States.¹²¹ Per Geraghty family oral history, Jan/John was supposedly trying to avoid being drafted into the army about the time one of the many armed attempts to create a separate Poland was going on.

He received his "first papers" towards naturalization before 1920.³⁶ He was a coal miner in Montgomery, Indiana, PA, USA in 1920.³⁶ He was unable to speak English in 1930.¹²¹ He was a laborer in an auto factory in Hamtramck, MI, USA in 1930.¹²¹ He died on 4 Jul 1937 in Livonia, Wayne, MI, USA. He was also known as Jan Gazda.^36,121 Listed as Gazda on 1920 census; Gazdecza on 1930 census. John / Jan GAZDECZKA and Caroline BOHINSKI were married. They appeared in the census on 26 Mar 1920 in Montgomery, Indiana, PA, USA.³⁶ Note the 1920 census says they were born in Austria, native language Polish. This was due to the fact that the part of Poland they came from (Galicia) was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire until just after World War I. They lived at 2621 [Lemblin?] in Hamtramck, MI, USA on 12 Apr 1930.¹²¹

47. Caroline BOHINSKI was born in 1874/75 in Poland.^3,121 About 1879 per Dianne GERAGHTY (Prinz). She immigrated between 1885 and 1896 to the United States.^36,121 The 1920 census says she immigrated in 1896; the 1930 census says in 1885. She was unable to speak English in 1930.¹²¹ She was an alien in 1930.^36,121 Also noted on 1920 census. She died about 1957. Children were:

	iii.	Adelaide Margaret GAZDA was born on 18 Nov 1904 in Pennsylvania, USA. She appeared in the census on 26 Mar 1920 in Montgomery, Indiana, PA, USA.36 She died on 30 May 1955 in Mt. Clemens, MI, USA.
	iv.	Carl GAZDA was born on 19 Nov 1909 in Pennsylvania, USA. He appeared in the census on 26 Mar 1920 in Montgomery, Indiana, PA, USA.36 He was also known as Carl Gazdezca in 1930.121 He was a laborer in an auto factory in Hamtramck, MI, USA in 1930.121 He lived at 2621 [Lemblin?[ in Hamtramck, MI, USA on 12 Jul 1930. He died on 24 Oct 1963 in Livonia, Wayne, MI, USA.
