Although he died in Periana, his residence at the time was Madrid (aunque murió en Periana, según el acta de defunción, "domiciliado en Madrid"). Francisco (Frasquito) LAGOS MUÑOZ and Mª del Carmen (Mariquita) TOLEDO RUIZ were married on 20 Dec 1874 in Periana, Málaga, Spain.¹³⁷ El vivía en Calle Fronteras No. 2 y ella en Calle de la Fuente No. 8. They lived at C/Toro n° 5-pral in Madrid, Spain in 1890.¹³⁸ They lived at C/Encomienda n° 15-2° izquierda (exterior) in Madrid, Spain in 1895.¹³⁹

Mª del Carmen (Mariquita) TOLEDO RUIZ¹⁴⁰ was born on 13 Oct 1857 in Periana, Málaga, Spain.¹³⁶ She lived at C/Encomienda n° 15-2° izquierda in Madrid, Spain in 1900.¹⁴¹ She died on 14 Aug 1903 in Periana, Málaga, Spain.^71,142 Died of tuberculosis. Mariquita was one of three children (plus one that died very young) of the marriage of Isidro TOLEDO MORALES and Josefa RUIZ ARREBOLA. Josefa died young, Isidro remarried, and had 13 children with his second wife, Dolores FERNÁNDEZ MATEOS. Children were:

She died between 1890 and 1895 in Madrid, Spain.74 Era of death deduced from the fact that she was living with her family in Madrid in 1890 but not in 1895. Full name: María de los Dolores Justa de la Santísima Trinidad.
	ii.	Manuel LAGOS TOLEDO was born on 3 Jan 1878 in Periana, Málaga, Spain.48,145,146 Nació en la casa de sus padres, Calle de las Monjas nº 3. He was educated at the Instituto de Cardenal Cisneros and received «el Título de Bachiller» on 18 Dec 1893 in Madrid, Spain.147 He immigrated on 18 Apr 1905 to Havana, Cuba.77,148 He sailed on the Manuel Calvo, which departed Barcelona on 26 March. He arrived at Ellis Island, New York, on 11 April, and got to Havana on 18 April. He lived at Consulado 104-106 in Havana, Cuba in 1908.149 This is where his son Francisco LAGOS GRACIANI was born in October 1908. He lived at San Nicolás, 1 in Havana, Cuba in Dec 1909.150 This is where he was living when his son Paquito died on 12 Dec. 1909. He lived at San Nicolás, 1 in Havana, Cuba in 1912.63 He visited on 12 Nov 1914 in New York, NY, USA.151 Arrived from Barcelona with his wife and her youngest daughter Isabel to visit his brother and his family, living at 344 E. 85th Street. He was a «contador» (accountant) at the Compañía Eléctrica Santiago in Santiago, Cuba in 1918.152 We know he was at this position in 1918 because of a 21 September newsclipping brought back by Gregorio LAGOS ESCALONA, who visited Cuba at that time. This occupation appears to have lasted several years. He visited on 4 Oct 1922 in Paterson, Passaic, NJ, USA. He was living in 1924 in Paterson, Passaic, NJ, USA.153 This, according to the ship manifest of his and Victorina's trip from Havana on 7 April 1924. He lived in 1927/28 in Paterson, Passaic, NJ, USA. Manuel and Victorina lived first at Oak Street, then Madison Street. (This was while the Lagos family was living at 922 22nd Street.) He shot himself in an unsuccessful attempt to commit suicide about Aug 1934 in Havana, Cuba.51 His brother Antonio, who visited him shortly afterwards, noted that the cause of this misfortune "looked like Betty Boop." He lived with his brother Antonio and family for a time between 1936 and 1939 in Paterson, Passaic, NJ, USA.51 The exact time period is not clear, but the total time was probably about a year or so. This was when the family was living at 129 Lenox Avenue. He was a «juez de carrera caballo en el Hipódromo de Marianao» in Havana, Cuba about 1950.154 He was a judge at the Marianao race track in Havana. 1950 is an estimate of one of the many years that he was employed there. He lived in the Hotel New York for several years between 1950 and 1960 in Havana, Cuba.154 He was living here when he died. He died on 26 Jul 1960 in Havana, Cuba.155 He was buried on 27 Jul 1960 in Havana, Cuba.156 Buried in Colón Cemetery. He was exhumed and placed in an ossuary on 17 Jan 1964 in Havana, Cuba157,158 A description of this curious Cuban tradition may be found in "Your Man in Havana", written by Emil SIGNES in 1999. He was recorded as resident with a Dr. Muin in Santiago, Cuba.

	iv.	José LAGOS TOLEDO **159 was born on 28 Sep 1882 in Periana, Málaga, Spain.159,160 Full name: José de la Santísima Trinidad. Nació en la casa de sus padres en la Calle del Horno. He died before 30 Sep 1886.48,161 No one in our family knew that there ever was a José LAGOS TOLEDO until I discovered his birth certificate in the Periana Civil Register in Nov 1999. Writing in Periana on 30 Sept 1886, Manuel MÚÑOZ FRIAS, an uncle of Francisco LAGOS MUÑOZ as well as a parish priest, wrote "Certifico que D. Francisco Lagos Muñoz de su legítima matrimonio con Dª Maria Toledo Ruiz, tiene cuatro hijos [Dolores, Manuel, Antonio, Francisco] . . . " which leads me to believe that José must have died by then. In addition, not having found a death certificate in Periana leads me to believe he probably died in Madrid, to which the family moved around 1885. -- Emil SIGNES.
	v.	Francisco (Paquito) LAGOS TOLEDO *48 was born on 7 Nov 1884 in Periana, Málaga, Spain.162,163 Full name: Francisco Leonard de la Santísima Trinidad. Nació en la casa de sus padres, Calle de las Monjas, 3. He died on 18 Jul 1910 in Madrid, Spain.74 In source document it says "Consta fallecido el dia 18 de julio de 1910 y registrada su defunción en el distrito de Hospital, con el n° 1621." Unmarried; no children.
	vi.	Teresa LAGOS TOLEDO **74 was born on 19 Jan 1890 in Madrid, Spain. She died before 1895 in Madrid, Spain.
	vii.	Mª de las Mercedes LAGOS TOLEDO **164,165 was born on 8 Jan 1892 in Madrid, Spain.165 She lived C / Encomiendas, 15 - 2o izquierda in Madrid, Spain in 1895.165 She died on 15 Sep 1906 in Madrid, Spain.71,164 Died of tuberculosis. According to Antonio LAGOS TOLEDO, his brother Manuel was afraid to touch Mercedes for fear of contracting tuberculosis (both parents had already died from it), and would tap her with his cane when they went to visit her in the sanatorium.
