Note of June 2013: I was not at this event, and have nothing written up on this tournament other than rosters and overall Atlantis results.  Atlantis entered 3 sides (men's, men's senior, and women sides); the men's team lost in the QF to Elvis at the Opry, the senior men's VII lost in the QF to Charlotte (presumably in an O-30s bracket), and the women lost in the final to the Maryland Stingers.  Bob Davis was the manager and the senior's coach; John Redmond coached the men (and played for them), and Pete Steinberg coached the women.

Note of July 2013: I found an email Pete Steinberg sent me as a report on the women's team.  As it's a hard copy I can't copy and paste, so I will abstract below. - Emil

From Pete Steinberg re the women's team: "We got to the final but ran out of gas.  We only had 7 players for the weekend ... We had a lot of speed but no real playmakers. Looking at the team I thought our best ploy was to play pressure defense and try to spread the ball wide as early as possible.  Here are the scores:

24-0 Cape Fear / Tries: Trisha, Ronnie, Brandi, Heather / 2 con Ines
42-0 Sunshine Club / Tries: Trisha, Brandi, Lisa 2, Ines 2 / 6 con Ines
19-5 N
OVA / Tries: Heather, Brandi, Amy / 2 con Ines
12-5 Tidewater / Tries: Brandi, Ines / con Ines
17-12 West / Tries: Trisha, Ines, Ronnie

"Not sure about the score against the Stingers. Heather scored a try and Ines converted.

"The team played really well. Even in the final we had the Stingers under a lot of pressure, but the players had played all the games that day and because of the pressure that we put on the opposition on defense it was pretty draining.  With just a player or 2 extra we could have been very competitive in the final.  Against the West the pressure never allowed them to get into their offense and they got their scores from broken play.  Against the Stingers we never allowed them to settle, but we only were able to put pressure with one or two players, while before we had pressure with 5 or 6.

...

"I think the weekend made me think about how to develop playmakers....

"It was a good weekend and I am very proud to coach a team that showed such guts for the weekend.  They really enjoyed the weekend.  It was a pity that they were so shattered in the final but I think we proved that putting pressure on the ball and then really fighting for the ball in the tackle is a great way to play. Against the West, we struggled in the scrums and lineouts, but we hit them hard, got to our feet quickly and fought for the ball...."
