July 17-18, 1999: Atlantis Men and Women at
Ontario Sevens

JUNE 25, 2013
Note of June 2013: I don't have any
report on this tournament; I do, however, have the roster and
the overall Atlantis results.
Based on the success of our 1998 venture (US Women and
Atlantis Collegiate Men), we decided to bring two Atlantis
teams to the Ontario Sevens this year. The women's was a
mostly US team with a couple of youngsters; the men's team -
with the exception of Greg Schor, who came primarily as team
chiropractor - was a mostly Collegiate team. These teams were
picked with two "official" teams that
I was coaching at the time in mind - the US National Women's
Sevens team and the US Collegiate All-Stars, team put
together as the 8th team in the All-Star Sevens at the end of
each summer. In the case of the Collegiates, this was mostly a
regional team.
The women, as to be expected, won the tournament. Their
final win of 29-14 was over the Ottawa Irish,
who year in and year out was a great
opponent. The
collegiates, also to be expected, in a tournament of D1
Canadian teams, were in the Consolation bracket. They
got to the finals where they lost to the Crusaders.
