Princeton wanted to get some sevens in this
season. Some of us worked really really hard to get us an
invitation to the CRC 7s, which - finally - we got. Then,
embarrassed, we had to turn it down because of Alumni Reunions and
graduation.
So, for a few that made themselves available, we added - partly
because they're good players and partly because the university
wouldn't let us enter as Princeton - experienced players Rosalie
Macgowan and April Cornell, New York - to 10 Princeton
undergraduates to participate in the Subaru Sevens in Wilmington, DE. Chris Ryan and I went as
coaches and Jeff Bagdis as our official touch judge.

We faced an excellent team in the DC Furies and lost 24-7.
Then a very disappointing game against the Philadelphia Women,
which we lost 24-15, but shouldn't have. Facing our first
college team, we beat Temple in a tight game 14-7. Following
that we had our best game of the day, defeating Penn State 17-7.
This not only got us a second win but also propelled us into the
final game. (There were only 5 teams in the women's bracket:
the Furies, Philadelphia, Penn State, Temple and Atlantis.
The Furies were 4-0 and Temple was 0-4, with the other teams 2-2;
based on point spread - by 3 points - we made it to the second
seed. We got into the final, had to play 10-minute halves vs. the
Furies, and lost to a clearly superior team, 49-12. It was great,
however, to beat Penn State and do it by enough to get into the
finals at all.
Our game scores:
7 DC Furies 25
15 Philadelphia 24
14 Temple 0
17 Penn State 27
12 DC Furies 49
I don't have individual scoring
in this tournament.
