68. Adolfo LAGOS ESCALONA⁵⁸ was born on 18 Aug 1907 in Madrid, Spain. He was politically active member of the left during the Spanish Civil War between 1936 and 1939.¹⁴ Según Margarita Sawa Lagos, «Él, junto con su hermano Gregorio, se desmarcó de la "tradición" familiar, políticamente hablando (personalmente pienso que por su herencia Escalona). [«Adolfo fue un idealista,» según Margarita Lagos García, "educado en los frailes Mercedarios).»] De forma que Adolfo fue Comisario Político durante la guerra civil, teniendo que salir al exilio cuando ésta acabó. Terminó en Rusia, donde conoció a la que sería su mujer, Alicia Cabezas Pérez.» No one in Adolfo's family knew whether he was dead or alive until a letter arrived in Spain, via Paris, in 1950 (by that time both his parents had died). Of his own generation only his sister Rosario and his sister-in-law Soledad were alive to greet him on his return to Spain in 1976, the year after Franco's death. He died on 13 Jun 1980 in Madrid, Spain.
