123. Josephine (Jo, Jo Jo, Piti) LAGOS.

Josephine (Jo, Jo Jo, Piti) LAGOS and Joseph Frank BARON were married on 19 Mar 1947 in New York, NY, USA. Because Joe Baron was a divorced man (and therefore disapproved of by Jo's father Antonio Lagos), Joe and Jo were married while Josephine's parents were visiting Cuba. Joe and Jo later moved in with her parents, and Antonio was later to describe Joe in glowing terms.

Photo Mercedes Mary BARON **111 was born on 21 Mar 1951 in Paterson, Passaic, NJ, USA.32 Her grandfather Antonio Lagos had always wanted a descendant named after his sister Mercedes, and when she was born, he and his wife were visiting Cuba. Mercedes' parents Joe and Jo sent a telegram to Antonio and Josefa stating simply words to the effect "Mercedes and her mother are doing well." She died on 6 Feb 1957 in Paterson, Passaic, NJ, USA.

Dolores BALL (Carr) noted in 1992 that "Mercedes reached the hearts of her aunts and uncles as well as her cousins. What stands out is how special she was to her Aunt Dee [LAGOS) and Uncle Pie [BALL], who were extraordinarily good to her after her father's death.

Long after the death of Mercedes and her father Joe Baron, her mother, Jo LAGOS BESTEIRO commented "A book is made up of many chapters and I look at this as a closed chapter of the Book of Life but I know that their memory will always live in the hearts of the Lagos Family."

He owned a luncheonette called Mike's between 1950 and 1960 in East Newark, Hudson County, NJ, USA. He was a postal clerk in Paterson, Passaic, NJ, USA between 1960 and 1979. He retired in 1979 in Paterson, Passaic, NJ, USA. After retirement moved to Port St. Lucie, FL, in 1979, and then to Tallahasse, FL in 1994. He died on 12 Jul 2001 in Tallahassee, Leon, FL, USA.
