7. Joaquina LORENZO GÓMEZ^4,13 was born on 15 Jun 1874 in Villar del Cobo, Teruel, Spain.^3,13 She emigrated in 1917 from Havana, Cuba. She traveled to the US to join Josefa BESTEIRO GRACCIANI and take care of her daughter Dolores in Aug 1917.^42,47,48,49 Josefa Besteiro had gone to Cuba to deliver her daughter Dolores -- after the death of two children in NYC within 3 weeks, she believed NY was unlucky for her. Shortly after her her return, she was joined by her tía Joaquina, who, it is believed, lived with the Antonio Lagos - Josefa Besteiro family for at least a year. Tía Joaquina was Dolores's nursemaid. Family story: When Dolores's brother Charlie was born, she was reputed to say [according to the story as propagated by Dolores), "¿Por qué has tenido que dar luz a éste? Le está molestando a mi pequeñita." (Why did you bring him into the world? He's annoying my little one.)
While she was in New York, there was a bread shortage, but as she walked down the street one day, she smelled bread, and sighed longingly "Hmm . . . bread" The man who had been "secretly" making bread found this amusing, and gave her a loaf. Antonio Lagos was amazed that she, who couldn't speak English, could procure bread, while he had had no luck. She died on 7 Jul 1970 in Havana, Cuba.

Joaquina LORENZO GÓMEZ and Miguel MATEO LAFUENTE were married about 1897 in Villar del Cobo, Teruel, Spain.⁴⁸ Miguel MATEO LAFUENTE (son of José MATEO and Pascuala LAFUENTE) was born about 1842 in Griegos, Teruel, Spain.^14,48 He died in 1915/16 in Villar del Cobo, Teruel, Spain.⁴⁸ Joaquina LORENZO GÓMEZ and Miguel MATEO LAFUENTE had the following children:

17	i.	Baltasar MATEO LORENZO **13,48 was born on 27 Nov 1898 in Villar del Cobo, Teruel, Spain. He died on 7 Apr 1960 in Teruel, Spain. «Nunca se casó, pues tenía algún retraso mental debido a la meningitis que sufrió de pequeño.» Según Isabel Mateo, «Cuando mi abuela vino, ella lo dejó al cuidado de las monjas en el Hogar Comandante Aguado en Teruel, con la esperana de poder reunir el dinero para mandarlo a buscar.»
18	ii.	Ceferina MATEO LORENZO **13 was born about 1900 in Villar del Cobo, Teruel, Spain. She died about 1906. No sabemos las fechas de nacimiento ni de fallecimiento, solo que murió a los 6 años a consequencia de la meningitis. (I have guessed 1900 simply based on dates of her younger and older brother, and to place her death about the same time as that of her sister; no other reason -- EGS)
19	iii.	Federina MATEO LORENZO **13 was born about 1903 in Villar del Cobo, Teruel, Spain. She died about 1906.
