2014: Atlantis at Las Vegas Invitational
Men, Women, Boys,
Girls
(Atlantis
tournament #142)

FEBRUARY 11, 2014 (rev. July 30, 2014)
Atlantis fielded its most number of
teams ever at one event - five - putting teams into the
following divisions: Men's Elite, Men's Aces, Women's Elite,
Boys' Elite High School (U19), and Girls' High School
(U19). This included the first Atlantis boys' and the
first Atlantis girls' teams.
The teams played a total of 27 games for a combined record of
16-11; details are given in separate articles; for these
articles either click on the link below or on the picture of
each team that follows:

The teams' play was split over 3 days and on several fields on
field complexes 20-minutes apart by car, so we could never
gather together. Unfortunately, a plan for all 5 teams to
share a meal and social hour on Wednesday, the day prior to the
first competitions, never came to fruition as snowstorms in the
Northeast delayed most of us by more than a day. At least
one staff member - boys' manager Dan Currie - never made it out
at all, though I believe all players eventually got there.
For the last few years, our kit supplier Chilly Kirkwood of Love
Rugby has been working with us to feature a tournament-specific
theme on our jerseys. The pictures here show one feature
that all teams jerseys shared and by which they were
distinguished. To commemorate Las Vegas' reputation as a
card games center, all teams featured a card suit on their
jerseys, a different card suit for each group: spades for the
men, diamonds for the women, hearts for the girls, and clubs for
the boys.
