Note: There was a lot of controversy about who was eligible for what teams in the U-19 category. Without going into detail there ended up being two sub-categories of teams: Girls U-19 International Elite and Girls High School.  This team, originally in the Girls U-19 Open division, ended up in a division called Girls HS.  - Emil

Games.  The U19 Girls Open side started off trying to find their feet in their first match against Ontario 2, a match a little too close for comfort. Although able to pull away with a win to start the day the girls really came together the second match and didn't look back from there. The team ended up pulling off marginally large wins against Flatirons and Shawnigan Lake to end the day 3-0 and the second seed out of 24 teams in the open with a spot in the Cup bracket for day two.

On left for the Flatirons is Angie Ramos, Atlantis #1015.

The second day quarterfinal started off well with a big win and got us into the Cup semi against the #1 ranked seed Ontario 1. The semi final for the Cup was a tough one; we gave up a few early tries and dug a hole we weren't able to bounce back from. The girls on the weekend ended up going 4-1 and showed a ton of improvement from match 1 onward.

The biggest thing we kept stressing was to build on what they learned from each individual match. The girls had some excellent conversations post match and they all felt they had a lot to take back to their home clubs, to continue to grow the game and help others. That was a big thing for us this weekend: winning is excellent, and they showed they can do that - but, particularly at the U19 level - having more than just a win to walk away with was really important to us.
